We are a new church in a housing estate that is in its infancy. We see a great need around us for spaces and opportunities for people to come together to connect. Creating and nurturing community is close to our heart. This is what we do:
Our volunteers lead assemblies, read with students, run Prayer Spaces and support the endeavours of schools to make them the best possible places to learn.
We run many community events each year, from our Easter Celebration held on Easter Saturday, to our Carol Concert in December. In the Summer holidays, we put on Activities Week in Great Western Park, a week-long programme of events. 2017 saw hundreds of families participating in activities featuring everything from bouncy castles, pizza making, magicians and gold mining to street dance workshops and football skills sessions.
Our community café is open every Thursday from 10am-12noon at the Northern Neighborhood Community Centre. It is run entirely by volunteers and seeks to provide a place where the people of Great Western Park can connect. It is especially child-friendly, offering lots of things for little people to do and providing soft play on the first week of each month. We are on holiday now throughout the school holiday returning on Thursday 6th September.
Church ministers and members meet together to pray and to support each other in their work. Churches in Didcot have good relationships, working together on a number of initiatives including shared acts of witness, Prayer Spaces in Schools, and Treasure Times.
We support the work of Didcot Food Bank which is run by Didcot Baptist Church and is open on Tuesdays and Fridays at 116, Broadway from 11am-1pm. The Food Bank provides for some of the most vulnerable people in our community. At our services we have a collection box where people can donate non-perishable food for the Food Bank. More information about Didcot Food Bank and what items are particularly needed can be found on the Didcot Baptist Church website.
There are several ways you can get involved, whether it be serving, donating or joining one of our weekly life groups, we can point you in the right direction.
